What Causes Severe Knee Pain Along With Edema In Lower Leg?
Hello, I was experiencing knee pain yesterday that seemed to resemble an ACL injury. I wrapped my knee with with foam and coban for compression. The knee pain has resolved, however I now have 3+ pitting edema to the right lower leg. I have not be able to elevate the extremity through out the day but plan on doing so tonight. I am experiencing palpitations, shortness of breath and fatigue. Being that I have no prior history of heart failure or condition other than hypertension, is it safe to say this will resolve on its own in the next few days?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe knee pain along with edema in lower leg . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like Chondromalacia, Bursitis, Patellar Tendonitis, Arthritis, Osteochondritis, Ton Meniscus or sciatica . Hyperthyroidism can also cause burning sensation. I would suggest you to consult an Orthopedician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray, CT Scan , blood tests, Electromyogram etc as per suspected cause can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly.Doctor may prescribe anti-inflammatory painkillers, muscle relaxants, warm or cool compresses depending upon the cause, physiotherapy to relieve and strengthen the muscles, weight loss and doctor may also prescribe nerve supplement or surgery in severe case . Doctor may also refer you to nephrologist for kidney problem .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
