What Causes Severe Knee Pain Along With Leg Cramps?
I have this weird knee pain usually at night. I sleep with it bent up toward my chest then the pain is so bad I have to straighten it out which hurts to do it but then have some relief I get really bad legs cramps at night also. I cannot even bend my feet up or I will get one. This has affected my sleep a lot. I was in the hospital May of 2014 with a leak in my heart Valve. I take medications which the Dr. has told me has helped a lot and the leak is less now. This leg thing just has me concerned because of my heart and it just doesn t feel right to me. Any suggestions?
With the previous history of valvular heart disease and medications for the same, first possibility of severe leg cramps with inability to sleep may be blood clot in the lower limb blood vessels or other issue. Kindly consult an ER and get examined for the peripheral pulsations, vital parameters with or without Doppler ultrasound of the lower limb vessels. Till the time being approach would be a foot end elevation with bed rest till possible. Stop smoking if consuming.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
