What Causes Severe Knee Pain And Walking Difficulty Post Injury?

While my husband was at work getting up from a squatting position and turning, the side of his knee popped. It hurt a lot and he had a lot of pain trying to walk. No swelling, but ice and rest made it start feeling better. Not pain free yet, though. Just happened today. He is 59 years old, a mechanic. What might have happened in the joint?

hi...there might be a chance of having a a liagment tear in the knee .which cause pain and difficulty in walking. best way to know about the reaal cause by a simple clinical test by the consultant ortho pediacian.but i think tere might be no ter of ligament as ur saying that there is no swelling but only pain so wat u do is just go for a x raybof knee join ap and lateral view because ur husbands age is 56 may have osteoathritic changes whichi most common at that age that may cause seaver pain.simply go for an xa ray and if it show s any athritic changes then consult an orthopedician
