What Causes Severe Knee Pain Long After A Tibia Injury?
I broke my tibia 7 years ago. My Dr said it was like a football injury. I didn t need surgery and My Dr said it healed so well he could barely see the fracture. 3 days ago I took one Red yeast rice pill that night I couldn t bend my knee and was in a lot of pain. It was better the next day but tonight I am experiencing a lot of pain in my knee again. What do you think?
Red yeast rice contains different ingredients. One of the most active ingredients is monacolin K which is also known as lovastatin. This is the ingredient in one of the cholesterol medication such as mevacor.
This means that essentially you are using a cholesterol medication with similar side effects as any other statin.
Muscle pain is a side effect of statins though not commonly knee pain, this means that it may not be related.
If the pain continues, you may need to see your doctor for assessment. Imaging of the knee may be needed.
I hope this helps
