What Causes Severe Knee Pain Post A Knee Cap Replacement Surgery?
I AM 82 Y/O AND HAD A TOTAL KNEE CAP REPLACEMENT APPROX 17 YEARS AGO. ABOUT 3 MTS AGO i FELL AND FRACTURED THAT KNEE. MY DR PUT ME IN A BRACE THAT WOULD NOT STAY ON AND SENTME TO 10 DAYS OF PT. I AM IN PAIN AND CAN NOT WALK, YET MY DR SAYS THERE IS NOTHING PREVENTING ME FROM DOING SO. ANY SUGGESTIONS?
You have a history of fall after knee cap replacement surgery. Presently you have pain & have difficulty in walking. Falling on the knee after surgery may cause damage to the prosthetic implant. Get a follow up clinical examination done with all required blood & Imaging tests to confirm you don't need a Revision surgery.
Pain & soreness may take time to reduce. Take NSAIDS (Ibuprofen or Naproxen) for relieve from pain. If you don't get relieve you may take Oxycodone. Stay connected with your surgeon, the treatment will depend on the pathology detected.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
