What Causes Severe Leg Cramps, Headache And Sore Throat?

Hi my friend was away on a stag all weekend in spain. He has returned complaining of being hot/cold, cramps in his legs, severe headache, sore throat and very bad cough. He got badly burned when he was away. Is this sunstroke? if so what should he do?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe cramps in legs, headache and sore throat which could be due to tonsils, streptococcal infection, underlying systemic pathology, upper respiratory tract infection or sinusitis . But in your case the symptoms seems to be due to viral infection .

I would suggest you to visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment after complete examination. You should get blood and sputum test done. You should go for throat swab test as well. Start treatment after proper diagnosis. You should take muscle relaxant for leg cramps .

You should maintain oral hygiene. Do warm saline gargles. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. Avoid spicy and sharp food. Take throat lozenges. Avoid intake of outside food. You should take soft and fibrous diet. Doctor may also refer you to neurologist for condition like migraine .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
