What Causes Severe Leg Cramps While Having Diabetes?

My Diabetic (T1) wife was sleeping, experienced a severe leg cramp, fainted, hitting her elbow on the dresser on the way down. Still unconscious she lost control of her body function (urniated). Thinking that she had low blood sugar I brought her some orange juice. Blood sugar is now 241. She is talking. She says that if she gets up she feels as if she ll throw up.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The leg cramps with the inability to control gait were due to the secondary effect of underlying systemic disturbance which can be an electrolyte imbalance, BP, sugar level alterations or so forth.

Evaluation and control of the root cause are the basics to cure her.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
General & Family Physician
