Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Leg Pain And Breathlessness Without Much Physical Strain?
My sister has pain shoootinng down her left leg and has shortness of breath doing something simple like pulling something with her hands! Her doctor says there is no heart problem but my mother dies 1 year ago today from heart disease! I told her to be persistent and have more tests! What should we do to get more tests?
Ths shooting pain is more likely to be from a trapped nerve. It needs physiotherapy and some pain medication.
However, the dyspnea needs proper evaluation. It must be kept in mind that the heart is not the only reason for dyspnea. There are a lot more causes and heart is less likely to be the cause of young patients.
Besides heart problems, other causes include diseases of lungs, low haemoglobin, high or low sugar, thyroid problems, muscle disease kidney problems and a lot more.
So dyspnea should always be investigated in detail. So discuss with your doctor.
Sometimes dyspnea may be with anxiety but that's only if her all test and examination are normal.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
