What Causes Severe Leg Pain And Groin Pain?

About a week ago I started getting slight ache now and then down my left leg. It has got worse it is now in groin area, left buttock and sometimes in my thigh. I don t have it all the time. Is this sciatica or do I have problem with my hip. I attend a weekly exercise class I manage the exercise well. It is not painful just uncomfortable.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe leg pain and groin pain. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like cramp or muscle spasm , some medications , such as diuretics, muscle strains , tendonitis , deep vein thrombosis , arthritis or slipped disk.

Groin pain can also occur due to hernia , sciatica or muscle spasm. I would suggest you to apply warm compresses to leg and groin area , take proper rest and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain . Consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination .

Doctor may order certain test like blood test , nerve conduction test along with CT scan or MRI to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe nerve supplement , noval MR , anti inflammatory along with physical therapy .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
