What Causes Severe Leg Pain Post Lumbar Steroid Injection?
Hi, I had a lumbar steroid injection this morning and over the last several hours I have gotten severely increased leg pain that I wasn t experiencing before the injections. It s at the point where I can barely walk normal because the pain is so intense throughout both legs. Is this something I can do to help relieve it?
As you mentioned your pain in both legs a thorough neuromuscular assessment is advised.
Now to look further what was the reason for the lumbar spinesteroid injection? Usually it us given to patients with severe radiating pain. If you had one you need to wait for a while. where in my clinical practice I have hear this often about increase in pain post steroid injection. But it subsides after some time. Also, if you feel its a matter of concern , than you can surely consult the same physical who performed the procedure.
Also, you may need to undergo physical therapy to strengthen the muscles of the spine and core post the steroid dose as per the guidance of the physician.
Usually patients recover faster with a combination of steroid dose and post physical therapy.
In my personal experience I have found 99% recovery in such cases.
