What Causes Severe Lower Abdominal Pain Along With Prolonged Menstrual Cycle?
Really bad lower abdominal pains, feels like labor but I am not pregnant, tubes have been tied for 6 years. My cycle lasts for 7 days off 2 days and back on again for another 3 days. It s so heavy I have to wear a tampon and a pad. My Dr. refuses to give me surgery because I m only 35 and he doesn t want it to affect my hormones. I can t take birth control because of my high blood pressure. Do you know what might be causing this and why?

Hi,
I feel USG of uterus before periods can throw some light to exclude few things like endometriosis., fibroid etc. Hormonal imbalance is another thing which can be the cause. If that is the cause doctor can think of trying hormonal IUDs as they have only progestin which is safer in blood pressure patients. It will reduce bleeding and also help in correction of hormonal cycle in menstruation. Please consult your gynecologist for more personal and specified advise.
