What Causes Severe Lower Abdominal Pain During Periods?
Every few months, I have extremely severe lower abdominal pain with my periods. It is an all-consuming, over-whelming, tear-jerking pain and nothing helps. My most recent period is the third time this has happened, but I usually have mild cramps at most. Is this normal?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Experiencing cramps or lower abdominal pain during periods is mainly due to changes taking place in the blood vessels of uterine cavity and lining of the uterus called endometrium. To overcome this, you need to take Tablet. Mefenamic acid along with Dicyclomine, which is analgesic-antispasmodic. You may experience such symptoms on and off for few years during early days of periods and it may disappear later on. Hope the information provided is useful. Wish you good health.
