Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My yay friend is having pain in the lower right of his abdomen. About 2-3 inches above the hip slightly to the left. He thought, earlier, he might have a slight fever. He has had kidney stones. My concern is his appendix. Your thoughts and suggestions please.
You are right in suspecting the appendix as the location is exactly where the appendix is situated in most people. However, kidney stones which are moving down the urinary tract can also cause these symptoms.
I suggest an ultrasound of the abdomen as early as possible to rule out both the causes. Appendicits if not treated, may for an abscess and other totally preventable complications. hence, early diagnosis and treatment is necessary.
Treatment included surgical removal of the appendix and antibiotic therapy.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Dr Geeta
