What Causes Severe Menstrual Cramps And Dizziness?
Hello. My 17 year-old daughter has pretty severe menstrual cramps. She started her periods when she was twelve (a month before her 13th. B-Day). Over the years the pain seems to stay the same or get worse. This time she felt light-headed and sweating a lot while cramping over. Ibuprofen seems to help for some time and then starts back up again. She is very active with Varsity Dance Team in high school and studio competitively 4-5 days a week. Is there anything particularly we can do for this matter? Could this be underlining symptoms of a fibroid tumor/cyst or endometriosis. She’s only been to her Pediatrician for yearly checkups. My next step would be to schedule an appointment with a gynecologist. Wondering if there is anything else we could do for her.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Menstrual cramps are felt to almost all adolescent girls, and sometimes they are very severe too. Severity depends upon the formation of prostaglandins hormones during menstruation.
So give her Tablet Meftal Spas instead of Ibuprofen medicine. Whatever you are doing is good for her.
Consultation of a gynecologist is required to rule out other uterine pathologies like fibroids or endometriosis. Sometimes these spasms are due to Dysmenorrhea.
So, further guidance will be given by gynecologist after proper examination and ultrasonography test.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
