Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I’m almost 18 and I am sexually active. For a while now I have had very painful period cramps. Lately they have been getting worse. I get pains all throughout the month and sometimes so bad that I don’t want to leave my bed. Advil or Tylenol don’t seem to help. I have been on birth control for a few years but that hasn’t helped with the pain. Also, the past 3-4 months at least my periods, which should start Sunday aren’t starting until Thursday or Friday and only lasting a day or two. The periods aren’t heavy but there are a fair amount of clots. Also, I have been having a lot of discharge. Enough that I feel like I’ve started my period because it feels so wet. I’ve heard about something called endometriosis and I’m wondering if it could be that or what else it could be caused by.
Hi Thanks for trusting healthcaremagic for your health issues.
Painful menstrual cramps are usually seen in young girls for which you can take combination of mefenemic acid + dicyclomine. Chronic use of contraceptive pill alters normal menstrual cycle which is responsible for your irregular cycle and less bleeding. However if your problem is chronic you should consult gynecologist to rule out any pathology.
