What Causes Severe Muscle Cramps From The Toes Radiating To The Hips And Stomach?

I have severe muscle cramp from my toes up to my hips and sometimes my stomach. I loose sleep nightly. The piano is intense. I drink 6 or more glasses of water daily. I have had these all my life, but each year these get worse. Am 60. The night my mother passed (66) she was having the same thing. Cramps starting I the feet and moving up her body. Tram afoul help, but let s face it, tramadol is a poison. I am from medina Ohio. Please suggest.

Could it be some form of peripheral neuropathy? You should get a nerve conduction velocity done and also do you have diabetes.
