I have a numbness and cold feeling in my middle left finger. I've asked my heard doc and he said its not nerve because when he pinched it- color came right back to it. Can you suggest what it may be or what I can do to stop this pain. I was in the hospital in dec. and the nurses kept pricking the same finger 6-7 times to check my blood sugar until them to use another finger. The pain didn't start until I got home after 4 days of being in the hospital. My email adress is YYYY@YYYY

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hi, Thanks for your query.
Most likely cause for severe numbness in finger is peripheral neuropathy It could be due to Raynaud's phenomenon. In this condition, people will experience numbness in feet with similar cold feeling. Cold stimulation test confirms it.
We should also rule out hypothyroidism where few patient experience similar symptoms. Get T3, T4, and TSH done.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
