What Causes Severe Pain After Draining An Abscess On The Back?

Hi I had a 9x4cm abscess drained from my back under general anaesthetic a week ago. It s being packed and dressed daily by the nurse but I m now on two types of antibiotics as it has green and a 1cm black patch and harder lumps on the right side, I feel unwell and have a temperature the doctors want to give it another 24hours but it hurts so bad. What should I do?

Hello
The pain may be possible because some remnant pockets of pus in the skin.
It seems you have been just started with antibiotics. It will take some time for antibiotics to act.
You can take analgesics like ibuprofen twice for 3 days with antacids.
Ice pack application for 15-20 minutes,3-4 times a day over skin around abcess may give some relief.
The doctor may consider incision and drainage of the other patch once it becomes little soft or inflammation lessens.
Have adequate rest.
Keep up follow ups with your doctor.
Thanks.
