Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Yes. I have had some strange very severe pains over the past 6 weeks. They started in my left wrist when I woke up one day and could not bend this wrist at all. The intensity was like a 10 from 0-10. It miraculously went away within 48 hours. Then, a few days later, same severity and intensity of pain but this time in my right hip. Then two weeks later, it re-emerged I. My left wrist again, going away within 48 hours. Today, I woke up and could barely walk as the pain (just like the 3 prior times) was excruciatingly severe in my left knee. It feels better now than 15 hours ago but what is going on with severe joint pain that just subsides within 24-48 hours- and always in a joint area?
i. Joint inflammation [arthritis] is the most common cause of joint pains and going by your symptoms it could be Rheumatoid Arthritis [fleeting joint pain].
But to properly know the diagnosis kindly consult a rheumatologist for necessary investigation and examination, and ask for Hb%, WBC, ESR, C- reactive protein, RA test and X-Ray Hip.
PS. It could be because of systemic inflammatory disease like osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, AVN [avascular necrosis], DVT [deep vein thrombosis], PVD [peripheral vascular disorder], Nerve irritation [Sciatica].
Since there are ways to treat the pain and other associated symptoms and continued physical therapy should be encouraged.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
