What Causes Severe Pain And Irregular Bleeding While On Contraception?

Hi my doctor put me on contraception to help regulate my period and to stop the pain. I m currently on Levlin 50 but it does nothing in terms of helping my period. My period comes at irregular times, like right now it is a week and a half early and I have severe pain and irregular bleeding. Sometimes it will be heavy and then other times it will be just a drop. I take ibruprofen with 15mg of codeine in it to help with the pain but it s not doing much. Is there anything you could suggest? The pharmacist said I may have inflammation of the uterus.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi

The cause of irregular periods such as polycystic ovaries, obesity and hypothyroidism should be identified and treated effectively.

Ultrasound pelvis,FSH LH hormone ratio ,thyroid profile and blood sugar level ,body mass index is essential to identify the cause of irregular periods.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards
