Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Pain And Numbness In The Right Shoulder?
I woke this morning with severe right sholder pain and numbness, could not raise my arm and had to use my left hand to assist. I do not recall injuring my arm. Cannot easily turn a water bottle cap. I ve been taking Advil, applied Bio freeze and moist heat throughout the day. I have maintained an above average fitness level with last working my arms 4 days ago. I could not effectively do my Abs routein this am.
As you have pain and numbness in your shoulder without injury, it may have certain reasons.
1. it may be due to pressure of a specific nerve during sleep.
2. it may be due to post injury, may be before some years
3. it may be because of muscle spasm.
For either of case, do not massage the shoulder. Consult your physician if pain persists. Do hot water tapping. Take some pain killer for quick relief of pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nirav Nimavat, General & Family Physician
