General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely due to tendonitis in the posterior part of knee. If it is from internal structures of knee like menisci or ligaments then there will be swelling usually. You can apply ice packs, take over the counter NSAIDs like ibuprofen ( motrin ) and apply anti inflammatory gels containing methyl salicylate, diclofenac and capsaicin locally. If there is no improvement then better to have an examination with an orthopedician.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
