General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is not uncommon to witness chunks of endometrial tissue(innermost uterine lining) shed off during normal menstrual cycle. It can vary in color, from bright red almost jelly like to brownish tan as in your case. I believe it is nothing to worry about and is normal.

In addition, this does not suggest anything like passage of abnormal organ part or miscarriage. For menstrual cramps, I suggest you to take over the counter pain medication like ibuprofen or naproxen.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ayesha Shareef, General & Family Physician
