What Causes Severe Pain And Swelling In The Legs?

My wife has severe leg pain. Doctors ruled out vascular problems by doing the Venous Duplex test. Now, we need to see an orthopedist. Have to wait a long time for appointment. Meanwhile, her leg has swollen for the past 2 to 3 days. She cannot sit, stand or walk. Even when lies down, her pain does not subside. Can you help? Thanks.

Hi,

The possibility of vascular disease has been ruled out but there can be other reasons like helminthic infection and renal disorder which can cause limb swellings.

She needs a clinical examination and necessary tests of blood, urine and ultrasound to identify a particular cause and accordingly treated either by drugs or surgical intervention. I suggest you take her to the hospital for proper evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
