General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Arthritis of the hip and back can cause severe pain. The numbness would occur if nerves are affected by the arthritis.

The nerves can be compressed due to changes that occur with the bone in arthritis. Compressed nerves can result in altered sensations such as numbness.

You need pain medication and physiotherapy. A pain specialist may be the best option for pain management since the pain is severe.
Your doctor can refer you to a physiotherapist.

If there is no relief with medication and physiotherapy then surgery would need to be considered

I hope this helps
