What Causes Severe Pain Around The Infusion Site Of Tetanus Toxoid?

I had a tetanus toxoid booster about 10:00 a.m. yesterday. Now feeling achy and sore at injection site but also sore under tongue on left side, tingling in right lower leg and somewhat tachycardia. I have no thyroid and take a daily replacement pill. Do I have any reason for concern? Are there any contraindications between tetanus toxoid and no thyroid?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
What problems you are facing after taking tetanus toxoid injection is local inflammatory reaction.
Nothing to be worried about. Kindly take antiinflammatory analgesic tablet like Ibuprofen with Paracetamol.
Gradually, your symptoms should subside.
There are no contraindications for taking tetanus toxoid in case you have thyroid illness.
However, in case there is occurrence of fresh symptoms or worsening of existing symptoms, you need to seek medical attention immediately.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
