Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am wondering about intermittent 1/10th second nerve type pain behind my throat area. Not related to swallowing or throat pain but seems to be behind the throat area. Started less than 24 hours ago and happens approximately once every 1-3 hours. Is this a heart related possibility? I know women sometimes present more atypically.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Your pain, if only from the time. Can be sprained neck (due to undue stress, wrong sleeping posture or a hit /injury to the back of neck suggest pressure or pinching of the cervical nerve supplying the back of the throat.
Formation/ice pack, over the counter pain pill like Ibuprofen, avoiding painful movements should resolve a short time problem.
In case remain s after 3 days. Get X-ray of the cervical spine done to check vertebral or disc problem. Which would need prolonged &specific treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
