Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Two weeks ago I woke up with severe stomach pain, just below the belly button that lasted for several hours but no abnormal bowel movements. Last Friday after a meal out I had bad stomach cramps and diarrhea which I blamed on food poisoning. Last night the same pains, with quite severe diarrhea. I had eaten at home...yogurt, salad with dressing, small amount of smoked salmon, nothing unusual. Any thoughts
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe pain below the navel. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like gastritis , IBS , acid reflux , food intolerance or ulcers . I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may order stool test , endoscopy or ultrasound . Doctor may prescribe H2 blockers , proton pump inhibitor , antibiotics like ornidazole along with anti inflammatory . For now eat light and non spicy , eat small , avoid eating sea food as you mention in query and frequent meals and take antacid after every meal . Doctor may also refer you to urologist to rule out UTI ,which can also cause such symptoms .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
