General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Menstrual symptoms are due to the hormonal action in the uterus. Prostaglandin is the hormone elevated during the menstruation. It is synthesized in the tissues and acts nearby. Oestrogen rich food enhances the uterine endometrial thickness which in turn breaks during the cycle. If there is thickened endometrium, your cycles will be more painful.

Thick endometrium is essential for easy implantation during pregnancy. Certain prostaglandin inhibitors reduce the pain during the periods. But it is advisable to go for natural ways such as hot pad fomentation over the pelvic area, abdominal massage, bending your knees, hot shower, to reduce the pain which do not hinder the natural conception.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
