What Causes Severe Pain From The Buttocks To The Ankle Joints?
Hi, I m having disc prolapse at L5S1 level and it became 7.1 mm I m having a shooting pain from my left buttucks till the ankle joint. My doctor said that I should take rest 23hours 30 minutes a day for at least 30 days if I want to avoid surgery. My Physiotherapist is giving me traction of 20 pounds 6 hours a day and I m having PREGEG M OD 75 Q CAP A DAY ALONG WITH ALTRADAY 1 CAP A DAY My pain is reduced a little. I m having altraday tablet since last 22 days. My questions is, for how long can I take altraday continuously as if I discontinued it for 2 days pain again starts. And what precautions should I take to kill it s side effects
Altraday is a nonsteroid anti-inflammatory drug and generally helps with the symptoms but does not heal the basic cause of the pain. As a result, it should be used as long as you have pain, while the body does the healing.
It is quite safe to use it for a long time in most cases. The major side effects are related to the stomach so you will need to take it after food and also probably take omeprazole to help protect the stomach.
I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
