What Causes Severe Pain From The Groin Area To The Leg?

My husband is experiencing very bad pain from his groin, back of hip and down his right leg. He wonit eat, has felt nauseous since yesterday evening. He has two ostomy bags and has been having stomach upsets over the last two months off and on. Two weeks ago he determined it was his old diverticulitis acting up although he hasn t had that since the two ostomys 5 years ago. So he took unprocessed wheat bran and that seemed to clear it up. He has been taking wheat bran every other day or so lately. Yesterday he ate corn on the cob, salad, tomatoes, and a bratwurst for lunch. He also had a few pieces of swiss cheese and he didn t take his lactose pill - he is lactose intolerant, so he blames the stomach upset on that. But I just started thinking could this be appendicitis?? He also has the remnant of a GIST tumor in that area but has been taking cancer drugs to shrink it and he goes for CT scans regularly. 3Months ago it showed the tumor had shrunk a bit. He had to stop the cancer drug (Regorafanib) one week ago because he was getting the hand and foot reaction that it causes. YYYY@YYYY

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The narrated symptoms sound to be more in relation with flare up of underlying diverticulitis involving terminal ileum or ascending colon more likely than appendicitis. Kindly get his CT scan of the abdomen & pelvis done for best possible cause evaluation and further management guidelines.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
