What Causes Severe Pain From The Groin To The Leg?
Hello Dr. Rynne, My name is Andrea Franco, I am a 43 year old active female that is experiencing severe pain in the left side of my groin area that radiates down my leg. There is no redness or swelling and I can ambulate with no issues. I have taken Ibuprofen 800 mg with no relief and I use ice to help as well. I also used voltarin gel with no relief. Is there anything that I am missing?

What Causes Severe Pain From The Groin To The Leg?
Hi, If you have a pain that is one-sided and radiates down the leg it might be because of a nerve compression that might be happening. If you have this pain along with a backache I suggest an X-ray for the lower back region. To start off with and an evaluation of your lower limb if you are having any loss of sensation or muscle weakness which will confirm the diagnosis. Other than that any pathology in the hip such as arthritis can also cause groin pain which can occasionally radiate down to the knees. Better to undergo a formal medical examination to rule out these causes. Thank you. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Raunak, Orthopaedic Surgeon
