What Causes Severe Pain From The Hip To The Leg?

For the last 3 or 4 weeks I have had pain when I walk, to the point that I am limping because I can t seem to put my full weight on my right leg. Pain may occur anywhere from my hip to any point on leg, down to my foot. I cannot sit (as propped up in bed) with my legs stretched out without bad pain when I get up. Have had sciatica in the past, but this is different.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

This looks like there is a nerve trapped in your spine.this is like sciatica though it may be different from the one you had previously. But it's always good to have been examined and rule out any other problem which seems unlikely.

This is generally managed with physiotherapy, and some muscle relaxant and painkillers. Mostly it settles in a few weeks. You should avoid heavy lifting and certain postures as advised by a physiotherapist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
