What Causes Severe Pain From The Hips To The Ankles?

HI, I am a 62 year old female....for sometime I have been experiencing pain from my hips down to my ankles, the pain on my left leg is always worse than my right... My right leg goes numb from the knee down and my right foot will have sharp pains at the arch. Usually the pain will start at my hip, radiate across my groin area and then the following days will just be my legs. I have noticed that the longer I sit the worse the pain is. Thank you, Corrina

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi i do care for your concern.
Your history suggest most of disc compression in the spinal region.
This cause nerve root compression, and this will cause radiating pain along the legs.
I would advise to
Consult your orthopaedician and get MRI done for spinal involvement and discuss further management with him.
Though surgery is available in most of times physiotherapy with hip band will suffice a lot.
Hope i have answered your question, if you have more feel free to ask.
Thank you.
I find this answer helpful
