What Causes Severe Pain From The Neck To Arm On The Left Side?

Hi, I ve been experiencing a lot of pain down my left side, it is most severe in my neck and then goes into my shoulder and down my arm even into my hand, when I touch the skin it feels bruised but its not? They have x-rayed my shoulder and cervical spine and said it was normal. I have gone to physical therapy for a month now and they said every time they do anything I start swelling really bad so they have canceled that. I m not sure what to do I m still in a ton of pain and nobody s doing anything about it? I can barely use my arm. if I lift or do anything it is so painful. And it just keeps swelling really bad. They said I have nerves that are spasming from the swelling.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most probably it will be due to spine related problems like prolapsed disc causing nerve impingement. As a first line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
