What Causes Severe Pain From The Neck To The Legs?

Before I start, let me advise that I am waiting a lumbar/spinal fusion. The problem is that I m having trouble quitting smoking therefore they won t do the surgery. I have Degenerative Disk Disease, Scoliosis, cervical and Lumbar atomises. They are telling me that my spinal cord is not only curved, it also twist. Anyway, two years ago I woke up one morning partially paralyzed on my right side. The cervical fusion gave back most of my use of limbs but there is still things I have to learn . Digressing to now, I have limited use of my left side.. No one wants to take responsibility for my current issue. I am having problems with the lumbar region of my spinal cord. I have a sharp, burning pain that radiates from the loin Lumbar region spanning all the way down the Plantar region including the foot. I have this sharp burning pain that seems to start in the Delhi s region or the lower sciatic region and affects the sciatic and the pelvis region all the way down to my foot .Recently I ve noticed the sitting on a heat pad or in a tub of hot water upsets the sciatic region causing a pain that starts at the neck ,down to the foot, both front and back areas of the leg. What causes this and is it something I should be concerned about?
