Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was wandering if you could give me an idea as to what is wrong with my toe. I am a fitness instructor and teach a lot of high impact classes which includes kicking jumping and running etc. Today my big toe on my right foot has been causing me a lot of pain. I haven t banged it or done anything to my foot which I can say that s why my toe hurts. I can t go on my tip toes or lunge as this is very painful and it hurts when I walk. I don t feel any pain when I m just sat down and there is no swelling or bruising. Do you have any idea what is wrong with it? And how to make it go away quickly? Thanks
Thank you for your query The activities that you are exposed to can cause injury to the small joints of the foot. Turf toe is one such injury. The first step is stop any activity that worsens the pain. Apply ice, anti inflammatory gel thrice a day and avoid any movement that strains the toe. If the pain is severe, I would recommend seeing your doctor to rule out more severe injury and get medications to relieve inflammation and pain which are prescription meds. hope this helps. wish you good health and feel free to reach us if you need any clarification
