Hi,

Actonel contains risedronate that belongs to the group of medications known as bisphosphonates is used to prevent and treat osteoporosis or bone loss. But like other medications this medication has some side effects of its own. It may cause severe joint, bone or muscle pain, severe stomach pain, bloating or upset stomach, jaw pain, vision problems, black or tarry stool, difficulty in micturition, swallowing difficulty, headache, cough, fever, allergic reactions etc.

Usually these side effects are self limiting and go away over time as the body adjusts to this medication. But if these side effects persist for long or bother you then you should consult your doctor first for medical attention.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello,

Actonel is known to cause side effects like gastritis, pharyngitis, muscle and bone pain which is severe and incapacitating, diarrhea, arthralgia, headache, constipation etc. Your symptoms are most likely due to Actonel. You may stop it and meet your physician for alternative medication.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
