What Causes Severe Pain In Chest While Taking Deep Breaths?
I was helping to push my daughters car when I felt a pop in my right chest area and extreme pain. The pain subsides but now it hurts to take a deep breath, cough, or to do almost anything with my right arm or when I press on my right side near my right breast. What made the popping sound and is causing the pain?
Popping joints are not much of concern but since you are having severe pain, discomfort while breathing & coughing. You are suggested to visit ER & get physically examined to rule out any swelling or fracture.
Get X-Ray & other Imaging tests done to get evaluated & treated at the earliest. You can take Acetaminophen (Tylenol) one sos, to get rid of the pain.
Do not do any heavy work, stay comfortable. Popping may go away as inflammation subsides, but if there is a fracture, it will take time.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
