What Causes Severe Pain In Eye Radiating To Ear And Down The Neck?

I woke up with pain in my eye all the way past my temple, my ear and down my neck. I have taken 600 mg of ibuprofen and two hours later I took two Midol pills (acetamenaphin and caffeine) with no relief. Do you you suggest trying anything else that might help ease the pain?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi

This is can be a case of temporomandibular joint dysfunction. The medication your took are the best for handling the flare-ups. If you are not allergic to Ibuprofen and your stomach can handle it you can take it every 8 hours after a meal or snack for like 3 days and see. Also, try for the time being eating soft food. It is a painful condition and you need to have it looked at by a dentist.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
