Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Pain In Floating Rib Radiating To Lower Back?
I fell down some steps this week and landed on my left side. Initially I noticed pain in my knee and shoulder, but as those areas seem to be improving I ve noticed a more severe pain in my left side between my ribs and hip. If you touch the area where the floating rib is located it is extremely painful. The pain is radiating to the lower back and abdomen on the left side. Is this a rib bone issue or musculoskeletal issue? Is there a way to tell which, and how is it treated?
I do recommend a doctors visit to examine the region, probably along with an X-ray and an ultrasound of the region (should the need arise), so please do schedule an appointment with your doctor at the earliest. For now, you can go about an ice pack application over the region 2-3 times a day, for about 20 minutes each time.
Best wishes.
