What Causes Severe Pain In Genital Area While On Medication For HIV?

my 30 year old son is having pain in genatil area. he has not had sex with anyone in over a year, he does have hiv and is on meds he has been taking for over a year now. it hurts at all times not just when going to the bathroom. what could it be or should he do for it

I think you may have to be very specific about where in the genital area is the pain. Given that he is HIV positive, you may have to consider monitoring his plasma HIV RNA load and the CD4 + T cell count. One of the complications of HIV is nephropathy-Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis. These are manifested by protein urea, edema and hypertension. So we need to know if he has got any of these symptoms, as these may cause pain in the genital area.
