What Causes Severe Pain In Groin Radiating Down The Leg?

hi I have recently been admitted to hospital with severe pain in my groin which spread down my leg to my knee. I felt very ill and sick with it. at first they thought I might have a femerol hyernia but after ct scan and ultrasound decided it wasn t . I have been discharged but still have pain which comes in stoons and still don t feel quite right. my own gp still thinks it might be a femerol hernia but I have to go for mri scan next. do you have any ideas please .

Hello and welcome to HCM,
A normal ultrasound and CT scan rules out femoral hernia currently.
Other causes of pain in groin need to be ruled out.
Pain in groin region radiating to leg and then to knee can be nerve related.
Compression of spinal nerve in lower back can lead to pain in the area supplied by the nerve.
The pain associated with compression of nerve usually starts in groin and subsequently radiates to thigh and then to leg.
I suggest you to consult an orthopedician for clinical assessment to determine the probable cause of pain.
