What Causes Severe Pain In Heal Of The Right Foot While Having Osteoarthritis?

I am experiencing severe pain in my right foot, ball of foot (outer) and three outside toes. Having trouble walking for prolonged periods of time. The pain has brought me to tears when I have to walk. Have tried different shoes, nothing helps. I was recently diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both knees with my right knee having no cartilage on the inner side. Can this cause foot pain to this extent? I also have degenerative disc disease and have had two disc replacements - neck and lower back. Recently had an MRI of my lower back with a diagnosis of fluid on the spine. Thanks.

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist 's  Response
hi,

its my pleasure to assist you regarding your issue.

i think you are having the pain in the ball of the foot and the three outer fingers is because of the disc degenerative changes in the lumbar spine. For osteoarthritis of the knee where you mentioned that both knees are OA knee with Right more than the left, i think your gait pattern has changes the pelvic bone movements. You need to check the limb lengths if there is any changes, Kindly do check your heel, if any spur is present which can be assessed by doing a deep pressing onto your heel.

you need to focus on doing exercises on regular basis for strengthening your core muscles as well your gluteus, quadriceps and hamstring muscles.

i feel you should try the non invasive therapy called the physical therapy of which you might be aware of and if not can try to find out a close by physical therapist.

under a proper supervision of a physical therapist you may achive a good strength in your core muscles and strengthen your lower limbs as well along with you.

i wish you get a speedy recovery with this and god bless you

thank you
