Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Pain In Incision Area Post C Section?
I had a c section a little over 2 weeks ago and am in extreme pain. my OB says the incision is healing fine but my pain is a burning, stabbing, electrical shock pain that literally has me yelping from the intensity...it is a deep pain. also, my iron is low (9.1) and I have for the last few days noticed my bleeding has become a brighter red rather than darkened like I was told should happen...my question is: should I go to ER to make sure all is ok or just try to deal with it?
hi thank you for asking your concern madam and welcome to HCM. i would suggest you to localise your exact site of pain. if you can localise it then feel with your finger gently on it and if you feel some liquid type of thing below your finger then it may be a small pus or hematoma. you have to consult your doctor. if pain is at any or both the end of scar then it may be suture pain which will subside by its own and if not you need to consult. if pain is along the entire length of scar and fever is present then antibiotics has to take like cefuroxime for 5 to 7 days. small amount of bleeding mix with gelly like substance is normal until it is smelling foul. if foul smell is present then it i must to consult your doctor. check yourself from any of the above condition then you can make your own decision. if you feel any more doubt please ask us regards dr. abhijit
