What Causes Severe Pain In Knee After An Arthroscopic Surgery?

My husband just had arthoscopic surgery on his knee. he had a bucket tear of the mediscus. They took that off and also took out as much arthritis as possible. He took a walk today and now he is in a lot of pain. We took the packing off his knee and put a new bandage on and re-wraped his ace bandage. What could be wrong.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It looks like your husband requires follow-up treatment. Since he is experiencing severe pain & is unable to walk, let him get re-examined in ER for any swelling, drainage, bleeding, blood clot or infection.

The most common complication after the Arthroscopic surgery is Progression of cartilage damage. His treatment will depend upon the pathology detected.

Let him be treated at the earliest, neglect may result in osteonecrosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
