What Causes Severe Pain In Knee Radiating Towards Hip?
Dear doctor, I m a female and 54 years old. I got a pain in my right knee in November 2014. I consulted western doctors and I was given only pain killers. I have servived with steroids without my knowledge for 6 months. Now I dont take pain killers and I have an unbearable pain in my knee and sometomes it goes upto my hip and downwards as well. What shall I do, pls advice.
Thank you for your query. Severe pain in your means damage to the vital strips tire of the knee joint. This could mean a damaged joint surface, or ligament tear, osteoarthritis to name a few. Have you been evaluated for the knee pain ( clinical exam, X-rays, MRI)? Did you have any injuries to your knee? I recommend rest, anti inflammatory medication ( topical and/ or systemic). I suggest you see an orthopaedic surgeon as soon as possible to prevent worsening of the problem and treat it appropriately. please discuss all the possibilities and ask for all the options available and longterm consequences before making a treatment decision with your doctor hope this helps. I would be happy to help if you have any further questions wish you good health and hope you feel better soon
