Hello
Thank you for posting at HCM.
Pain starting from lower back, one sided, outer side of the leg, and a cyclist, points to "Sciatica" . This is usually due to compression on lower back or disc herniation. In such cases we advise patients to go for XRay spine & lower back,
MRI Lumbar region, Nerve conduction tests to confirm the diagnosis.
I understand that the pain in sciatica is unbearable. We advise our patients in such cases to start with lower NSAIDs at first and then to progress to opioids depending on pain profile of the patient. You may also benefit by a procedure called
nerve block through phenol injection if the pain is too severe and is affecting your daily activities.
We suggest you to visit an orthopaedic or a
spine surgeon for the problem. Though very debilitating symptomatic relief is possible with the cautious use of medicines in this disease.
Taking rest, using back braces etc are some of other modalities, and surgical correction is the cure of the disease to relieve the compression.
Hope to have informed you sufficiently.
Feel free to ask us any other query you may have
