What Causes Severe Pain In Lower Back Radiating To Back Of Thigh?
I am having lower back pain for the last one month. The pain is acute and spreaded upto left thigh especially back portion of thigh. X ray only revealed L 5 early degeneration. I am 41 yrs old. I am taking hifenac MR painkiller to reduce the pain. What may the case for such pain? Is surgery required for this? I am on physiotherapy (UST and IFT) but of no use. In between I had taken gabapin ME 300 mg for 7 days that also could not show any positive result. A doctor advised me to do a MRI and then surgery would be required. Please advise...
I can understand your concern and will try to help you in the best way possible. From your complaints it seems like you are having a bad lower back ache which may be caused by compressive neuropathy or myelopathy or sciatica or lumbar canal stenosis or PIVD. You require further evaluation which may include a MRI of your back.A MEI scan would go a long way in andwering your question about requirement of surgery or not. I suggest you consult a doctor so that you can be investigated and a management plan be made for you.
Hope it helps
