My husband has cardiac amyloidosis and right now he experiencing somewhat severe pain in the spleen area. It goes around to his back hitting his lower ribs. His creatinine is to high to have a CT with dye contrast but did have to drink 2 cups of barium like liquid and the CT showed nothing drastic. General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The amyloidosis is an auto immune disorder with deposition of amyloid material in various body organs. The pain in spleen area is most likely related to deposition of amyloid involving areas around splenic sinusoids and compressing the adjacent structure with pain origin. I would request to get necessary prescription of steroids with or without anti inflammatory conditions to cope up with this situation. Till that time, intake of paracetamol or acetaminophen would help to best extent.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
